Biography

Tiago Marques, born in 1988 and based in Maia, Porto, is a Portuguese accordionist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Largely self-taught, he began exploring the accordion at age 8 with the Portuguese folk group of Bienne (Switzerland), and has been taking private lessons with renowned Serbian accordionist Aleksandar Raskovic since May 2024.

Over the last two decades he has performed in Portugal and abroad, sharing the stage with leading musicians, and building a catalog that spans folk, world, and contemporary music. He co-leads Alma Menor, which released Em Tons de Aguarela (2018) and Capitulo I - Raizes de Xisto (2024/2025), and has released seven albums and 87 tracks with the instrumental project Cerebral Pain. He also published the Casco Duro album with the band Mula Ruca.

With Tiago Morais, he participated in the album Piperegrinos, a traveling project promoted by the Xunta de Galicia during Xacobeo 2021–2022, which brought together the leading bagpipers of the Iberian Peninsula. In 2025, he marks the Centenary of the Birth of Carlos Paredes by arranging and reinterpreting several pieces by the virtuoso of the Portuguese guitar.
